Date Note Fix

Please note this fix is for Clients 2000 and not Clients 98-1

Problem: When a user clicks on the Date button on the Notes tab of a client intake sheet, this inserts a new date and highlights all of the existing text, so if the user just starts typing they delete the existing notes.

Solution: Two fixes can be found below.  Fix 1 places new case notes at the end of the notes field, while Fix 2 places new case notes at the beginning of the notes field.

Fix1

1) Open the CFW2000.mdb with Access

2) Click on the modules tab

3) Right click on inpFormButtons

4) Click on Design View

5) Scroll through the code until you find Function dateNote

6) 5 lines below you’ll see this section of code

Case 1:

MyF!SUMMARY.SetFocus MyF!SUMMARY = Date & " - Staff #" & [pSnum] & " - " & Chr(13) & Chr(10) & MyF!SUMMARY

'Following line puts the new comment at the bottom of the list rather than the top

'Comment out the above line and remove the comment from the following line to do this

'MyF!SUMMARY = MyF!SUMMARY & Chr(13) & Chr(10) & Date & " - Staff #" & [pSnum] & " - "

MyF!SUMMARY.SetFocus

7) Replace this section of code with this

Case 1:

MyF!SUMMARY = MyF!SUMMARY & vbCrLf & Date & " - Staff #" & [pSnum] & " - " MyF!SUMMARY.SetFocus

MyF!SUMMARY.SelStart = Len(MyF!SUMMARY) + 1

'End Replace here

8) Click on File, then Save

9) Click on Debug, then on Compile

Fix 2

1) Open the CFW2000.mdb with Access

2) Click on the modules tab

3) Right click on inpFormButtons

4) Click on Design View

5) Scroll through the code until you find Function dateNote

6) Replace all the code between Function dateNote and Case 2: with the following

Dim Beg As String

On Error GoTo PROC_ERR

Set MyF = Screen.ActiveForm

DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord

Select Case Myint

Case 1:
Beg = Date & " - Staff #" & [pSnum] & " - "
MyF!SUMMARY = Beg & vbCrLf & MyF!SUMMARY
'Currently this puts notes at the beginning. If you want notes to be inserted at the end,
'comment out Dim Beg As String and Beg = , then replace My!Summary = with
'MyF!SUMMARY = MyF!SUMMARY & vbCrLf & Date & " - Staff #" & [pSnum] & " - "
'Replace SelStart to MyF!SUMMARY.SelStart = Len(MyF!SUMMARY) + 1
'End Replace here
MyF!SUMMARY.SetFocus
MyF!SUMMARY.SelStart = Len(Beg)
'End Replace Here

7) Click on File, then Save

8) Click on Debug, then on Compile
